Name: Rak'ha (pronnounced Raak-haa)
Gender: Male
Age: 20 (equivalent in human years)
Story: Born on a mixed band of African wild dogs and cheetahs, his body is a mix of the two species. In his skin he possesses a marking that resembles a skull, known as the mark of death, sign of back luck for his tribe. He was born with this mark, and as soon as his parents noticed it, they feared for his life and decided to take him away of the band, afraid they could try to hurt him to end the supposed bad luck the mark of death would bring. When he was a mere cub, his parents handed him to the maegi, a group of animals known for their magical and mystical powers, capable of curing any wounds, travelling through dreams and, some say, bringing the dead back to life again.
The maegi interpreted his marking as a sign that he would be a powerful shaman someday, and started his training very early, since he was very young. He learned from the basics to the advanced kinds of magic as he grew up. The white feather on his braid is a token from the first magic he conjured, when he healed an injured ostrich. The necklace represents the end of his training, meaning that he is a complete and ready shaman, and it is also used as a symbol of power and energy source for his magic. He uses the necklace to be able to enter any animal’s dreams and rid them of nightmares. The feathers on his necklace all belonged to animals he has helped on the past, and they are changes from time to time as he desires. He has a small collection of different kinds of colorful feathers. The current ones seen in the necklace are from a guinea fowl, a parrot and a flamingo.
He’s seen by the maegi and the people he has helped as a wise and good guy. His eyes always have a harsh expression, mark of being neglected by his own tribe as a child.
Anatomy: His body anatomy is the one of an African wild dog, with the tail, markings and mohawk of a king cheetah (a rare variation of the common cheetah). His ears are long as a caracal's ones, with the white marking that belongs to servals. He’s an agile runner, light and fast, with a long tail to guarantee his balance. Feeds on small prey, which he hunts through sound, using his long ears to listen to the smallest noise they make.
This was my entry for Ashenee's contest of designing a character, and I'm really proud of him! He gave me a lot of work but in the end I think it's all worth it
